The Diner-Day One

Today I walked in.I had to do it.My car was dying and my escapade with collegiate life was on the run.IS on the run.Is dead.

I just got finished with my two week runaway;I had a bLAST in Maryland.
I needed to get the full view of what it was like to live in a Republican state.
I have a soft spot for Conservatives who are anti-abortion.There's just something about killing babies in the Mother's holy sanctity of a womb that I don't feel so keen about.Anyway, I laughed and cried the whole way down there, with a brief stay at Seaside Heights,NJ,after leaving my MAC card in the machine-I had to use my credit card for everything.I got through and I stayed in Ocean City, might I suggest you stay at The Americana...$35 for a room on the oceanside, well, the SIDE of the motel, with still yet an ocean view.
The town was full of brimming language, accents from countries that I couldn't decipher.I loved them all...especially when they served me decaf tea after watching the POpe on Ewtn and getting oh so morally concious.I could tell you of the other places I went, but I really should talk about the Diner.
BUT,I didn't buy my surfboard.YET.
The diner.I REALLY need money.And I can;t help it.I really like waitressing.
There's something about the people you work with and the people who come in.Demanding at times, but rewarding.I must admit though,I would really like to own my OWN restaurant,a little soup spot, with Nanny's recipes, but that's somewhere down the line.I could think of a milllion other jobs to have, but when I saw that ad in the paper,The Princetonian hit the spot.I just need a little cash,or I might even keep the job and move into an apartment instead of filtering off of the artistic vibe that my parents give me.I REALLY,(how many times have I said really so far,)would love to own a little place in the Poconos,PA.That's what I'm trying to do-get some sort of work there?I have to look into it.BUT-

The diner.
Marble floors
and mirrors.
Placemats and silverware.
Tunamelts,
oh,A tradition.
Trays and guys and gals
Dressed in black and white
Just to wait
for your graciousness.
Maybe to correct an
incorrect glare
or giving a child
an elephant ear
or maybe a scoop
of ice cream.
It'll do for now.
And it brings back such memories.

i really like the folks in the food service industry, always have, i think what a job, what a job, could i do it? balance trays filled with food, make hungry sometimes angry people happy enough not to choke on the rye, not spill when pouring the sweet tea, no i don't think i could.

food service folks are underrated in the world, just my opinion. i've got no talent for it though, and i always watch them and think, damn, they're good.

yesterday one gave me directions to a theatre while cheering for a football game and mixing drinks, this says nothing of how she washed glasses, and brought out food, talented underrated folks, i say.

tori amos has this one song, i want to kill this?that? waitress, i think tori, you know, you're a spoiled bitch.

glad to see you had a nice getaway.

and lovely post, thanks, always enjoyable. :)

I see you were closer to my neck of the woods in Maryland. Sounds like you enjoyed it! Ocean City sure has changed alot and it is too crowded there for me but still can be fun. Good read, thanx for sharing! :)

LOL! Nah, Gene Wilder was a much better Willy Wonka, IMO. The remake of that movie was pretty lame-o. I did think J.D. did a decent enough job playing kooky Willy Wonka but the lameness of the remake just brought it all down. :D

You have a wonderful day too!!!

    Love ya!
