Hanging Out

We went out
to hang out
as friends
but
My drinks
turned into
His dinner.
He kissed me
seven times
and
seven times
I
felt nothing.
Actually,
I
felt
scorn,
contempt,
disgust,
and
an unwillingness
to say
his name
in
casual conversation
when talking about
our night
of
friends
hanging out.

    i am not making fun in any way, but i am hoping this isn't the gas station attendant you spoke of. sounds like a drag of a time at best.

    Hey Ali! :) Sometimes it's just easier to say you felt nothing. And as in your poem, often nothing = the scorn, contempt, disgust...all those yucky feelings.

    I think you've captured a feeling that many of us have felt at one point--very good poem, Ali! :)
