Hopi

Blackfeet believes in butterflies,
I,
In butterfly dreams.
The gypsy moth carouses
round the trees
of the wind spirits,
as life slips but further
from warlike visions.
Blackfoot woman
carries the butterfly dreams
in her meeked head,waiting
for baby to come.
It has already been predicted
in butterfly dreams.


(Dedicated to the Hopi Tribe and their new dreams of life.)

    It just seems to me that the Native Americans of the United States don't get nearly enough credit as survivors of this country since its beginnings.
    I mean that theyre starting to,but they need recognition for being such inspirational,peaceful people as well as the rest of the country.

    I agree with that. It has always seemed they got an unfair deal.

    Theres a really good movie I saw about two Native american men
    growing up on the reservation who liked to play basketball.Saw it on my own and in film class at college.Anybody know which one it is?I cant remember too much about it except that the guys father turned out to be an alcohlolic.
    Any body know which film I'm talking about?

    I don't know which film you're talking about, Ali but I loved your poem!!!! And I agree, the Native way of life just seems so right! :)



    On a side note: I have this t-shirt, it pictures 4 Natives with guns, above the pic it reads "Homeland Security" and below it reads, "Fighting terrorism since 1492". I love to wear that shirt.

    I am from Canada. I think that American Indians, and Canadian indians live much diferent lives...I am just going to stop there.
