A Dozen Roses

This Rose has thorns
The thorns fall off
Along with the petals
Red with jealousy
Red with hate
This rose is so beautiful
I can relate

This rose is alone
Its tears are caught by the red petals
Mixed in with a sun shower
Screaming like a whistling kettle

A child reaches down to pick the rose up
But is hurt by its thorns
He cries and cries on the wet grass
Oh, the guilt

The rose now knows it doen't belong
And sings quietly a chipper song
Wishing and praying to an invisible god
That she could belong somewhere
Laments what it has until it's gone

Never knew its precious beauty
Exotic as it was
Wanted to be like everyone else
And never thought about that loss

...time is never wasted when you're wasted all the time...

"breathe, breathe in the air...don't be afraid to care...leave but don't leave me...look around and choose your own ground...for long you live and high you fly...and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry...and all you touch and all you see...is all your life will ever be..."
