he used to brighten the corners of my life
but now the shades are drawn
the crooked rain falls straight down
as i lay upon the earth
staring up into the clouds
i wait for him to return
to hold me close to his breast
but i know he wont
my arms out stretched from my side
the knuckles red with dirt
jasmine scents the air as that slanted rain
dissolves my strength
i pray for him to come save me
but his ears don’t hear my pleas
is he testing me to see
if this is all convenience
or does he, as ive always suspected
just not exist at all?
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
