she handed him a wooden box
said, here these are things that you should see
a silver chalice, some binding cord and a chunk of amethyst stone
he looked at her and then turned his back
she smiled and understood
the greying sky outside told tales
of what had already been foresworn
he placed the box upon the table, filled the chalice with blood red wine
he laid the cord doubled over on a piece of velvet cloth
the amethyst stone, he took in his hand warming it from within
the thunder clapped, the clouds poured forth
and the earth slowed down and began to breathe
she stood before him naked
ebony hair tumbled to her waist
she gently placed her hand in his
and knew all that came before was just a waste
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
