i think perhaps it might be best
if you stay the hell away from me
right now i dont think i can stand
to see your face or even hear you breathe
you took so much from my being
and ive nothing left to give
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

    dont think you know me
    you know nothing at all
    it all seemed like too much trouble back then
    and now? well... i couldnt care less
    dont second guess me
    youll never get it right
    just ask me and maybe ill tell you
    if i think youre worth all the doubt
    between the lines is rarely the truth
    at least thats the way it is with me
    ive always told it straight, laid it on the line
    in simple language i thought you could understand
    so as i said, if youre unsure, just ask me
