falling embers ignite my heart
destroyed by fire
antipathy and doubt
i stood before you
a bride stripped bare
waiting for you to step forward
but all you did was stare
the walls you built
you built alone
trying always to break them down
felt like pushing sisyphus’s stone
you left me wandering
rudderless and lost
and still i am
as i regroup and count the cost
of words that turned to lies
and future plans that turned to dust
you must have known
yet still you chose to take all you could
and leave me uncrowned upon this loser’s throne
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
