side by side through sheltering trees
boughs bend to their knees and doff their hat
shadows come and shadows go
butterflies dance amongst the sun’s dappled rays
birdsong fills the silent grove
ear to the ground you can hear the earth breathe
the smell of moisture fills your lungs
and all the world becomes your stage
critters eight legs, six, four, and none
slink, scurry, climb and hang about
do you think they’ve come for you?
like they think you’ve come for them.
run and hide within shadows’ time
side by side ‘neath sheltering skies
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
