inelegantly wasted
she elegantly tasted
all the boys in the room
she kissed their lips and softly withdrew
and they all came back for more
they always do
she drew her hand along their skin
and they stood at attention
waiting for more
inelegantly wasted
she elegantly danced
with all the boys in the room
one by one.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

And what is a man who act the same way? It is funny that the English language does not really have an equally derogatory word for males. Using the word "whore" is how a man jealous of a women's sexual superiority vainly attempts to control females or neutralize the perceived threat of their sexual power. It is not different than the way the certain Brazilian warrior tribes used the threat of gang rape to control the women of the tribe. Instead of berating women for their sexuality, why not just rejoice in the fact that they ask us to dance at all.

Whore is not a female exclusive word it can be applied to a male as well.:)
Not agreeing with the first replier just stating.

True, it can be applied to men, but it does not mean exactly the same thing. Every definition I have ever read defines a whore as a promiscuous woman or a prostitute. When the verb is applied to men, it usually does not mean sexual promiscuity. For a man, whoring is aping the behavior of the female whore relative to something other than sex: he had never whored after money. I don't think English has a word that carries with it the degrading tone for men. Men are libertines, casanovas, etc, but not really whores. Most of the time when I see the word "prostitute" applied to a man, it is always qualified: he is a male prostitute. I am just pointing this out, because what I found so offensive about the posters remark was its use of a word like a weapon, such as a knife. I will even go so far as to say Jack the Ripper's knife. To cut down and degrade, specifically to lash out and abort a particularly female expression before it could have time to live, breath, and grow. I am sorry Cate, if I am reading too much into your poem, and you are certainly capable of defending yourself. You do not need me to do it. But the poster's response struck a chord with me, because I really cannot stand the demonization of sex, or the idea that a women are the root of all sexual evil leading men astray. I guess I read too much Colette when I was young.

Rent Boy is the term used in the north east of England and most of the country to describe a male prostitute.

read whatever you like into my writing.
i will say only this. writing this poem gave me a positive vibe. and anyone who knows me knows that feeling doesnt come along all that often. when i saw the whore post it didnt deflate me, i just thought it was just an unnecessary thing to say. but as ive learnt there are always those who will try to bring you down to their level, usually cause they lack self respect.

she will continue to dance and continue to take from life what she needs. and she will do it with class, always.

Oh and cate, I'm really not sure why but I immediately got a visual of an old time catillion for some reason. All the girls with their dance cards and beautiful dresses and the men in their uniforms. :)
