her fathers eyes

i’d like to think hed have moved away from the music that made him famous. and at the time of his death it looked as if that’s what he was doing... discarding the 3 minute verse chorus verse must hear must have video to match pop sensation and moving towards a sound that came from somewhere even more visceral than his gut. his beautiful widow –beautiful in that she wasnt. at least not considered so by those who prize above all else the aesthetically pleasing package even if it contained within a vile ugly unrepentant abusive excuse for a person who above all else covets supplicants to bow before them and boost their shattered and fragile egos cause that is all they have to give the world - uncovered so many drawings and paintings and unfinished works that not quite a year after his death, she threw open the doors to their home so the whole world could share his gift. she rolled up the carpets they had bought on travels in the middle east and stored the furniture in the garage, as his last love became the world’s glimpse into a mind no one really knew and no one would ever know. one particular painting, a rather large portrait, was ‘hidden’ out of view so that when one entered the room, you had to turn 180 degrees to view it. she has her fathers eyes was at first glance, a portrait of a young girl... a yellow party dress, frilly knee high socks, though one was pushed down so it encircled her ankle. black mary janes. her blonde hair in messy loose plaits. in one hand she held a headless doll. the head lay at her feet, its eyes missing. in her other hand sat two eyeballs. i gasped when i saw it. not from shock, but from the thought of what he was capable of. i must have said his name in an audible whisper because a voice from just behind me said, ‘such a loss’. i agreed and turned... and there she stood, barefoot and dressed in crimson red - the widow.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

    Hold on to the thread
    The currents will shift
  • this is very nice. the long sentences in the middle give it a very mobile and swift feeling that give the emotions a lot of movement and substance to stand with. very nice.
