bit by bit
she lays it out
in front of her
she stands over all she surveys
hears the calling
from where she's not so sure
what can it give her
it never says
is it real
she doesn't know
placing shapes together
trying to make it right
she hears the calling
but not what it says
make it fit
bit by bit
she lays it out
in front of her
just to watch
it all fall apart
her trembling hand
not quite sure
to make it fit -
a sacrifice
straight edges together
easier still
like minded
but still not quite
she hears the calling
quietly dying
in front of all she surveys.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
