lead us to reason
through bloody war for all seasons
whether you're pushing the senses
or pulling a blanket over your eyes
it's hard to ignore the dangerous dreams
and leave no ashes
whether you're burning brides
or squeezing betrayal from seduction
before the dawn heals
you'll find yourself wide awake
and the morning outside is closer
than the flesh that hangs from your bones
a thousand lights can't see a thought
or lift a heart full of black
her smallest breath is full of grace
but not today
and you wish for one last touch
the comfort or repetition leads to your own disaster
and all you can do is thank her for the venom
so you count the seconds to the rhythm
of a heart full of tension
and you realise that where you are
is no longer where you want to be
when you're waiting for something that may never come
so from this mourning disaster comes a moment of clarity
will you smile again
but not for her
and she will never know what she'll be missing

I really liked this. The last four lines are good at explaining what is going on, but they lost the flow of the poem for me. Still really enjoyed it.
