and the wall i'd carefully built around me
falls crumbling to the ground

i'd touch my hand to your bare skin
and fall right through to the other side
like alice through the looking glass
i'd thought i'd lost my mind
in a world not my own
i look so deep into the black
that all i see is myself
looking back at me

within you without you
i'm clutching at straws
as i fall to the floor
every day now til the day that i die
is slowly squeezed of the life
that i thought that i'd made
and every drop of blood freed tells me i'm wrong
still it tries to deny that i am alive
as every step taken brings you closer to me.
