never really cared about you 'til you were gone
never thought i'd miss you but i was wrong
now when i see you across the street
my heart aches and i turn away
my friends all see you
they tell me how you've been
they see you laughing and smiling
with your new love
and it breaks me so

never really cared a lot 'til you were gone
never thought i'd miss you but i was wrong
didn't treat you right when i turned my back
now all i got is memories
lightning cracks and splits my head like deadwood
i've only got myself to blame
it'll never ever be the same again

sitting in a car stopped at a red light
all the thoughts of you go 'round in my mind
they say life is what you make it
and i've made a mess of mine
the things i want
the things i thought i wanted
aren't even close to what i had with you

never really cared 'til you were gone
never thought i'd miss you but i was wrong
turned my back and left you cold
never thought i'd miss you
i was wrong.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

    Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
    As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
    And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
    He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
    What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
    Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
    And his tears fall and burn the garden green
