he looks into the mirror
doesn't recognise himself anymore
who he is. who she thinks he is
who she wants him to be. what does he want.
he hears her stir in the next room
it's just not the same anymore
he'd do anything not to be standing where he is today
but what is he really prepared to do. to give up. to let go of.
every day he stays just adds to his slow descent
on and on he goes, living a life that's become a lie
every morning greeted with a sigh of resignation
like the death rattle of a life expired
needing to put aside all he's known
learning to let go. to not relive the mistakes of others' pasts
needing to make new changes. to redraw his future plans
it's a fear of the unknown that keeps him holding on and on
can't be everything to everyone
nor even anything to anyone
if he's nothing to himself
life can be scary when the way's not clear.
he's learning that now
will he lose what he loves the most
is the risk too great for him to find peace within himself
is he assuming things not in existence
whatever he decides he has to know
now is his time to breathe.
now is not the time to let his hopes die in denial.
now is the time to be bold.
to let those mighty forces come to his aid.
