don't you hate those long cold nights
where the wind rattles the windows
of your mind and you're forever
burrowing deep under the blankets
trying to get warm and remember
what it was you were trying so
hard to forget when darkness
fell upon you like new fallen snow
but not so virginal and with ill intent
when all you could hear was the branches
heaving under the weight of nature
and the sound of your arrythmic heartbeat
forcing itself out from beneath your ribs
you reach out to feel the comfort
of your lover and you realise they're
not there and you have been alone
for the longest time as if it all stood still.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
