breathe
just breathe and be free
breathe
just forget everything
turn away
and don't be drawn into
what you can not control
breathe
just breathe and be free
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

    long slow sunday afternoon
killing time swinging on the porch
singing along with neil and crazy horse
wanting to live with a cinnamon girl
he could be happy the rest of his life
the clouds roll across the sky
close my eyes and rest my head
    listen to your low baritone
i can smell the rain coming
    the earth breathing
    who knows when it'll arrive
    maybe soon
    the wind picks up
    rustling the trees
    speaking to each other
    losing leaves
the dog barks, lifts his lazy head
and i look up and see
a truck heading up the drive
    a dust cloud behind
    envelopes it when it stops
    the door opens
    and out steps your brother
the gravel crunches under his boots
    it's been a while
    and he looks like death
    he's had his troubles
    but he's getting better
    apprehension turns to smiles
when our arms open to hold
    a mending soul.
    hear my name
    take a good look
    this could be the day
    hold my hand
    lie beside me
    i just need to say
