it just makes me wonder
what the point of it all is
when children die
cause they've got no food
when they don't have
water to drink
and a roof to sleep under
when their mama dies
when their papa dies
and their twelve year old sister
is left in charge
when billions are spent
on weapons to kill
a child's future
and no one cares who lives
and no one questions why
when we live our lives
with blinders on
and hope we're never tainted
by misery death and
absolute hopelessness
we hope our bubble doesn't burst
the only thing to eat is dust
and the cries that die on the wind
never reach our deaf ears
we'll turn away
not question why
never part the curtain
never ask why not
just ignore the man
it just makes me wonder
when black gold
is worth more than
half a million children's lives
when people's lives
aren't worth the maize
that they grow golden in the sun
when boots and bullets
guns and tanks
rise up against
native unrest
when the world
turns a blind eye
clasps their hands together
praying in impotence
to a God that turns his back
and a race of Man that doesn't
give a damn
it just makes me wonder
who'll be there for me
when they come
who'll be there for you
when i'm gone
when they've managed to fool
all the people
all of the time
when cries in the wind
fall on death ears
what's the point of it all
i just wonder.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
