I can picture all this inside my head
She said
And I knew then we were in trouble
She moved closer to me
And laid her hand on my hip.
she kissed my lips
and said
She knew I’d come
And I wished I hadn’t
My heart leapt when I felt the cold
And I grabbed her arms.
She laughed and threw the knife across the room
I said I was leaving
And moved towards the door.
She laughed and said
she didn’t really need me here for this anyway.
Turning she walked away towards the hall
Picking the knife up on the way.
I hesitated for just a second
But it was enough
The door slammed
I heard the bolt shoot home
I hammered on the door
Until my hands went numb.
She spoke to me through the wood
Said it would be alright
I kept her talking
Talking and hoping she’d open up
She’s tired she said
And wanted to sleep
I told her I’d hold her if she wanted
No…
That’s not want she wanted
If I didn’t do something now
I would end up
Not having to later.
The door bounced off the wall
it hit me in the face
and there she was
coloured red
and pleased with herself
it doesn’t even hurt she said
her eyes were wide
and I wondered
what she was really thinking
I told you I didn’t need you for this, she said
I know you told me, I said
I still see her
But only on Tuesdays
On visiting day.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
