hey mods,inability to edit?????

i'm not questioning the removal of our edit capability. but what i want to know is, how were people abusing it? i thought you could only edit your own work.
it annoys me when i can't correct my work when it matters but i can correct other posts elsewhere on the site that don't mean anything.

    I like to spell things right and sometimes miss it until it's too late. LET US CORRECT OURSELVES! PLEASE!
