this is what it feels like.

She left her mama crying
On the porch all by herself
She resolved herself not to look back
To let a chance in to feel sympathy
Trapped within a not so gilded cage
This is what it feels like to escape
To rebuild a life out of the ashes

Tearing down an empty highway
Singing songs from a childhood lost
The wind whips her hair, it stings her face
The image of her mama etched into her brain
A face contorted in anger and pain and supposed love
She stares into the distant sun, exhausted just from breathing
This is what it feels like to escape
To rebuild a life out of the ashes
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

    I really like this I can relate however on the mothers point of view. I have two girls going off to college this year :(
