are you ready?

if you don't know
what it feels like
or how it sounds
it will sneak up
from behind you
drag you down
a choke hold
crushing your life
the taste of metal
inside your mouth
the softness that you feel
is your body not ready
your mind, not ready
if you ignore it
you will
never
be
ready.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
