shadows and lies

he talks of shadows
she thinks of lies
and all she has become
he smiles at thoughts
and she furrows her brow
not wanting him inside
he wants her to share
as he has done
she chooses not to
and tells him so
quid pro quo
not from her
he doesn't understand
the scales unbalanced
resentment creeps in
it angers her
slowly building
he is angered also
were they both wrong?
is there too much expectation?
he talks of shadows
while she denies the lies
and all that he wants
she can't ever be.
