too many drinks
and not enough sense
she wanted to fly
and learn how to dance
she twirled to the music
and played with the boys
the warnings not heeded
to her were just noise
they found her next morning
face down in the reeds
the marks on her body
looked like some kind of disease
no one knows how she got there
well someone sure must
it was him that reduced
all her dreams down to dust.

take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
