your life's played out on a world wide stage
it is real or all just fake?
do you pretend so much you've forgotten
who it is you are
who it was you were
what it was you wanted to be
when you were five and running
through the grass with a bucket
on your head and your knees all scraped and bleeding
and the stick in your hand was your weapon of imagination
did you want to be a teacher
doctor...astronaut...rock star...
...train driver...fairy...or
all of the above.
now that you're a grown up
your memory's all you have
and being on your own back then is nothing compared
to how much you've since lost you way
can you even remember what it was
to be young and wild, free and at play?
it is real or all just fake?
do you pretend so much you've forgotten
who it is you are
who it was you were
what it was you wanted to be
when you were five and running
through the grass with a bucket
on your head and your knees all scraped and bleeding
and the stick in your hand was your weapon of imagination

hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

yes, i do remember,
being wildly young and free,
and still do i stempemdember,
as it is that i still see.
yours is a great poem cate
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
