i thought i knew
what was going on
turns out i
was just a fool
every word that dripped
from his mouth
was soaked in pure deceit
he never had any intention
of sticking to his word
and i never noticed anything
until it was all too late
i came too close
no room to move
his trap already set
how could i have been
in such denial to not see
i'd become a catch
the smile that formed upon his lips
just made my skin crawl
his eyes went dead as night
he laughed and told me
how stupid i'd been
and how easy a prey i was
my arm shot out and hit him
square in his smirking face
and it was my turn to smile
as i walked away
and left him sinking to the ground.
