silence hangs over my life
like a rain pregnant cloud
it envelopes me
holds me tight
squeezes my heart
prepares to fight
for my sanity
for my pain
waiting for you

i try to ignore
such a benign noise
and then i realise
it's not the most courageous of ploys
it angers me
mocks my calm
ignores my tears
as i open my palm
an absence of presence
a paradox
