sometimes i hear her crying
even when i'm asleep
i reach out to touch her lightly
and realise she's not near.
i wonder if she'll be alright
and know in time she will
if she gets the encouragement she needs
and the warmth her heart desires
if she understands she's stronger now
and her life's worth more to her than just the people in it
sometimes i wipe her tears dry
and keep everyone at bay
she looks at me and smiles
and i know she's gonna stay
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
