my baby girl came in from outside
and handed me a creme coloured rose
she said this is for you mum, can i get you a glass?
i said, that's alright darling, i'll just keep it close.
it's the day after yesterday and i'm holding that rose
the fragrance still strong to the nose
i look at the folds of the withering petals
and think of my child with undying love
she does this quite often when the bush is in bloom
and leaves me such sweet valentines
i keep them all safe in a box for the purpose
and treasure them with all of my heart
cause i know as she grows the totems will become less
and these treasures will help me remember the past.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

You have a very kind, thoughtful daughter so it seems

her love won't diminish with the years, but the tokens will
charish them with all your heart...

    lovely , really

of motherhood. Cherishing the innocent love you get now, knowing that later there will be subtle shifts as she grows into her adulthood....it's all nicely evoked, and very touching.
