a smile is just a band aid
to hide a bleeding heart
the frame around a shattered mind
keeps it all inside
my skin drawn tight over my bones
one cut from sweet release
my hands bound tight before me
your absence a bitter taste on my tongue
i used to think i was normal
that dysfunction was my gift
it fuelled my wild imaginings
made me fly like i was free
i know the jigsaw that i am
all the pieces fit right in
making up a pretty picture
with my mona lisa smile
keeping secrets deep within.
