as the lightning shone bright
trees caught in the headlights
lift their skirts so high
but still manage to conceal
what you cant see
all the words and all the time
you can't ever get back
the loss you feel and the regret that binds
will guide you through the open mine
the jewels that sparkled were yours to take
yet you failed to note their worth
and now the words she says
you'll never hear again
and everytime she passes by
you'll know you can't approach
holding the hand of something lost
and something never to be regained
you say it's alright
it's what you want
but choke on all the lies
if she knew what you knew
if she felt what you felt
you know she'd be gone
so sure be my guest
carry on with the charade
and know you'll never have her strength
