My Reflection

Turn the handle, flip the switch,
reflection in silence,
Mirror cracks and all,
I stare at the person in the mirror
Who is that I wonder
Sunken Eyes, hollow, shrunken head
life has taken a toll on your my son,
pale thin skin and bones
your body
once supporting your bones
and a badge of pride and courage
now a burden,
your bones brittle
cracking and snapping with each step and breath
you feel thousands of years old
your back now resembles a hunchback
your face has grown permanent tear tracks
due tyo the daily ritual of grief
the war has taken its toll my son
What happened to that person who used to stare
stare at me in the mirror.
Why does he no longer look like me.
Let it die, I tell myself
Isnt the definition of a dream, that it dies eventually...

the foot that kicks
the word that pierces
the energy thats gone
no longer full of life
seeing everyone but himself
in his heart
dreamer in my dream
we got the guns
i love you,but im..............callin out.........callin out

"Hear me, my chiefs!
I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
no more forever."
