My first "protest" song?

Hey guys, I'm back. Been enjoying some of your work, too!
I made a song, really simple, and here are the lyrics to it. I'll leave the interpretation up to you.

Black smoke fills the skies
Amidst the echoes of a scream
The eyes of a friend
Are the eyes of the enemy
At least, that's how they seem

Streets full of unknown people
Are they here for a reason?
I want to believe it so
But they won't follow, so who do I trust?
Another day, in a mad season

Chorus:
All I want to see is
A beautiful day
When I can run in freedom
On a beautiful day
Maybe someday

Break:
Stop trying to decide upon
Who's to take the blame
I'm only trying to get by
We're only trying to get by

Don't put the blame on me
I don't want to point my fingers at you
I'm only trying to get by

Tears won't make a difference
Neither will a prayer
Let us look for a path to the future
One we can walk to share
No more of this life

Chorus.

I guess that's not really a "protest" song, but it has my message in it. Thanks for reading.
"If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done"

If you can't get high on purely music and the sounds that you hear, you're missing out on something.

  • Maybe some day, burnin-candle! And yes, maybe not a protest song but it certainly does get your message across! :)

Let's walk the path together! - Hand in hand, smiling and singing and full of love to give! :)

And keep those dreams of peace and true freedom in your heart and strive to achieve them! If enough of us do, maybe we can make a difference one day! And what a glorious day that will be! :)
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
