Dumb Dirt Jumping Poem

I sit at the beginning of that approach
passed the usual brick wall I hope to encroach
I stare at it’s jeering steep face
My confidence falling away like a slip coach

I pull myself together and begin to pedal
pounding on my 30 pounds of metal
confidence builds as I scream closer
and my fear begins to settle

I blow passed the wall and hit the face
my spirits begin to race
but I soon see that I don’t have enough air
and on the landing I case
and fall flat on my face
Jimmy Carter has disco fever.

I really would like to hear the experience of missing a jump like this without being restricted to rhyme, I feel like the intensity of the experience is held back by it
