Your laugh brings back a memory,
Of someone dear in my life.
Their innocence not lost,
But reborn in your eyes.
I have watched you grow up,
Even before you were every born.
Not the person you are now,
But the one you came from.
He'll be there to protect and watch,
Just like I had to with him,
He'll make sure that you will have,
What we did not back then.
I cannot begin to tell,
Of the hell he came from,
How the world hurt him,
Until the day you came along.
For you he'll give the world,
He'll gladly give everything he has.
He's already done so much,
Just to be your dad.
And for I am also thankful,
For what you have given to him.
Once he knew only pain,
You taught him to love again.
How I wish our dad was here,
Too see how wonderful yours is,
He would be proud too,
Knowing that this is his kid.
