Selfish act?

I want to be able to gaze,
Into the deep beauty of your eyes,
But that beauty is now hidden,
Under the pools of tears.

Your eyes were not made for this,
They usually shine so brightly,
I want to anything I can,
Just to bring back that light.

Tears glisten upon your cheek,
I wish I could stop them.
At least hold you and comfort,
As if my touch could cure it all.

Who is the monster,
That made you feel like this?
Please God let it not be me,
May I burn forever if it is.

Is it selfish to want this,
To want you not to cry,
Just because it breaks my heart,
When I see tears in your eyes?

And would it be selfish,
For me to do anything,
Or all that I can,
Just to stop you from hurting?

I would give the world,
If it would stop the tears,
I would challange any man,
If it would stop the pain.

Can you forgive me,
For the way I am feeling?
I just can't stand to see,
The one I care for hurting.

Please just let me help,
To stop you from crying.
Or at least let me hold you,
And share your pain.

that is beautiful marcus - sometimes just being there is enough when a person is hurting. letting them know you are there is a comfort beyond words. but i have to admit, i'd feel so fortunate if someone felt this way about me.

aww that was really beautiful
though it IS making me feel a bit sad now
it was really very nicely written, also very meaningful and strikingly desolate
