I got inspired to write this by Buru on a thread next door at AET then a bunch of people pm'd and told me to put it over here, So
Here:D
Titled:
What I know about the Andes , or
Bob finally gets around to writing something after all these years
The Andes are a cold blizzard at 12000 feet in Ecuador
Snow blowing so hard that you can only feel your partner
Knowing that it’s a mile down the cliff only feet away, but huddled together for warmth
With the woman I was hiking with, waiting out the night, alone in the wilderness.
Nervous laughter in the howling wind.
The Andes are also a natural sulphur spring the very next night
next to an honor lodge. Leave a little money in the box for some shelter.
The stars so plentiful that constellations are indistiguishable
The stars so bright that they reflect off her eyes while sitting in the hot pool,
thick steam rolling off the water across the snow and down the mountain.
Orange beams of light in the sky, dancing together with the plumes of steam out of the simmering volcano across the valley
Drinking some stale wine that never tasted so good, no one for miles around
In each others arms, smiling at the sound of the gentle mountain breeze

A welcome, life-affirming change from some of the unnecessary miserablism that's been creeping into these here parts of late. Thank you!
