My time has run out
Like a hair given to grey
This contemplative statue
Reminds me of our days
under frozen tundra skies
and antelope forests

Why did he take me from you?

I have become a siren singing in both of your ears
Gently calling you home to me
While it is forbidden, I cannot belie my tempestuous tongue
I have not a care of man’s forays into the imagined realm of morals
That not a soul follows
But declares to, time and time again

Willow oh will oh
Memories feed the roots of your
Falling branches
Scuttling leaves slice the heavy slow summer breeze
Inoculating us from suffering

Rich black soul soil
Nursing the silent seeds
Milking rain from the sky
To birth the optimist
An amber relief
From the faithless consolation prize

Now will you take me home?

  • Very nice, Astral Star! "Willow oh will oh..." *thumbs up* I'll have to re-read this one a few times. :)

    An "Othello" reference? :)
  • Thanks! Finsburyparkcarrots - no intentional Othello reference but I do see it now. Peace Love and Music!

    You're welcome! It's a lovely, musical poem. :)
  • Cool. Reminds me of Patti Smith in a way...a different but appropriate use of symbolism.
