The canorous sigh from the angels above whispered into my ears and surged down my spine. This was the moment. From the enigmatical hell that was adolescence to the future nights spent basking in the excruciating desolation of stale smoke, hopped spirits, and the encircling empty bar stools, I had searched for that single soul, that single comet to carry me home. She appeared. There was a distinct energy, a bolt of emotive sanctity, bursting out of her brilliant blue eyes resulting in a startling epiphany. When the curtains of darkness eventually cover my lifeless body and my soul is left searching the glowing tunnel for the angels who now whisper in my ears, this will be the woman sitting beside me, tear-covered fingers holding my hand. To realize the end had never felt so comforting.
"Worse than traitors in arms are the men who pretend loyalty to the flag, feast and fatten on the misfortunes of the nation while patriotic blood is crimsoning the plains." -- Abraham Lincoln
