Not to rag on someone doing something nice, but why not start a contest like this at a time that isn't 1:30 PM west coast time/4:30 east coast time on a Friday?
A large amount of people work from 8-5 and/or don't have internet access during this time. It would make much more sense to start a contest like this at 7 PM PT/10 PM ET on a weeknight, or on a weekend day.

This offer I think happened after I came home from work, around 5:30pm Halifax, Nova Scotia time (so 4:30 pm Eastern time NYC) When I did the other Christmas contest freebies, I slowed down the Message Pit like crazy, and it was during 3-4 pm working hours, if I remembered now. Didn't mean to slow down the board on my offer. It was on the 5 poster freebies & 25 runner up prizes, sepearte threads. It was wild!
Next one, i'll do it like at 10pm eastern time jam, and let people know a day before or something. It's all good!
I like the sense of surprise. I work nights. You can't please everybody and it's not like we're all entitled to win one of your 'sweet' prizes. Keep it fresh and mix it up, but I think it should always be a surprise.
Hopefully for my sakes my ticket comes up in the next one and I can time my run with the time difference..
