you are the looking glass
I am the pirate's eye
you are the slow, seeping death
I am the quick goodnight

I am the serpent
and you are the Mary's heel
I am the shaking ground
and you think its such a steal

you feel the spider's legs
I push away from it
you hurry my decay
I sit and have a fit

breath for me one more time
you have your way with me
sing out the church's rhyme
full of grace keep me safe

keep your new casting call
I know you want it all
take your cake
and eat it in front of starved-
children in africa

I am the glowing pen
that your dad gave you
with notches for each man he killed
on his way to idle wealth

you are a quite stream
I am a jetboat
you are a magazine
I am a papercut
you don't know how to read
cause I am your teacher
and you don't love me
because I am your lover
and you speak of gentrification
like you're centered in apartheid

ok all done
The most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway, is that its you, and that you're standing in the doorway.

I write down good reasons to freeze to death in my spiral ring notebook. But in the long tresses of your hair--I am a babbling brook.
