kneeling in the corner stall
regretting some pills
from a bottle half-full

at least it was half-full
and not half empty
cause then there wouldn't be enough
to lay me down gently

kneeling in the middle stall
hunched over from a night too wild
but the officer outside knows it all
and the gavel falls hard if it falls at all

so don't buy me a drink little girl at the end
cause then I'll be able to talk to you
and right now I can't

and don't offer me anything you've got
cause I'm not the model of self-control
that I once thought
The most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway, is that its you, and that you're standing in the doorway.

I write down good reasons to freeze to death in my spiral ring notebook. But in the long tresses of your hair--I am a babbling brook.
