rain is pretty, too much rain blows

rain outside
rain inside
darkness resides
in the seat of your soul

backyard dies
front yard thrives
death from above
die every night

this house is cold
this winter might kill me
but I've survived
a thousand things
that should have killed me
that have killed better men than I

this rain outside
it never leaves
it comes inside
it never stops
why won't it stop
The most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway, is that its you, and that you're standing in the doorway.

I write down good reasons to freeze to death in my spiral ring notebook. But in the long tresses of your hair--I am a babbling brook.

the despair is hard to miss as is the chill of the rain. cold rain in winter is the worst and totally symbolizes living just by instinct. the front yard thrives adds a little note of optimism as if the speaker hasn't completely given up. so much in so few lines, eh?
