If I live through this winter
there will be no parade
and if I lose a hand to frosbite
no one will mourn my pain

if I die in the cold blizzard
don't search for my body
let nature absorb me
so my worthless body does good

if alcohol poisons me
and I die on the floor
of a bathroom in some bar
or in an alley so cold
take my body and make it look pretty
so they say that I died doing something I loved

remember me as happy,
and as soft to the touch
with lightning for eyeballs
and silk for my thumbs

my time here is fading
please hear what I say
there's no time to repeat it
now go on with your day.
The most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway, is that its you, and that you're standing in the doorway.

I write down good reasons to freeze to death in my spiral ring notebook. But in the long tresses of your hair--I am a babbling brook.
