no longer part of the solution

I think the proverbial "they" are right
when they say that
'youth is wasted on the young'
because I think what they mean to say
when they say it, is that
'you don't know what you have until its gone'.

What does one do when
one is no longer part of the solution,
but instead, approaching the point of being
part of the problem?

What does one do when
the passion and compassion toward life and living
are lost to the day-to-day grind and lost to
judgement of the inadequecies of others,
rather than rising above (it all)?

What does one do when
one's parents hate you more than you hate them,
and you aren't even sure why?

What does one do when
the earning potential you once had is lost,
and you are now co-dependent upon another,
whose earning potential will eventually be lost too?

And what about the kids; the cool kids, or
the want-to-be-cool kids, who you see walking,
talking, striding, skating down the street?
You think them cool, they think you old.
Both are correct.

And what does one do when, the house you live in
starts closing in around you;
How does one get out without leaving a committment?

Where does one purchase a gun, and how does one
use it when one knows that someone else will have to
clean up the mess?

38 years is enough. I'm at a multitude of brick walls,
with chains around my ankles.
Nothing I do is right.
Nothing I can do can make anything right.
Nothing I say has any meaning.
Nothing I don't say can be let go.

I think the proverbial "they" are right
when they say
"Stop the world, I want to get off!"
because I think what they mean to say
when they say it, is that
'you don't know what you have until its gone'.

"Make much more sense, to live, in the present tense."*

But for how long?

"How long, to sing this song."**

"I'm just trying to, walk with you, though the rain drops"***

"Left Wing, Right Wing, Broken Wing. Lack of Iron and/or Sleeping.
Protector of the Kennel. Ectoplasma, Ectoskeletal.
Obituary, Birthday; Your scent is still here in my place of recovery."****

"I told you from the start, just how this would end. And I get, what I want, and I never want it again....." *****
