He walked through the door
Long face and eyes downward
Sat on the couch to clear his mind

Spouse would then enter
Ask what was wrong
And it was always "Its been a long night"

Early in the morning
Twilight still looming
He rose for another long day

"Think positive" said his woman
"Fat chance" his reply
Just another ordinary day

Drove on to work
Slaved in the office
Packed up and went on his way

Drove himself home
Stopped for a beer along the way
Confessed to the bartender as always

"I dont think she loves me"
I always hear her crying
Outside of our bedroom in the hallway

Walked in the door
The same as before
Sat on the couch to rest his tired bones

"Dont say it" she said
And she sat by his side
"The message was conveyed in your moan"

It was another long day
But when he looked in her eyes
He saw it as long for all the wrong reasons

"It was a long day for me"
And suddenly he knew why
And that she couldnt be involved in treason

"I long for you all day"
"It hurts when you're not around"
She said with a tear in her eye

"When you're not with me
I dont know what to do
Sometimes I just start to cry"

He saw his dear wife
And suddenly it clicked
He knew why his days were so long

It wasnt the work
It wasnt the weather
It was his love that he missed all along
"I cant hear you, but i feel the things you say"
