i thought

first i felt the lightning in my nerves
then you took my breath away
with only one look that went on
the words had been spoken already
ever since you started to peel me off
you have tried to put me back on
maybe you would feel too naked
if i really was not there to hold you up
we do not play this game like anyone
there are new rules and guidelines
we made up for ourselves alone
every time i start to feel like i am done
you make something happen to test me
so you get your way but leave it hang
just to tempt or test over and over
please do not be insecure about it now
would i even be here? would you?
there is meaning in the silence for us
yet you continually try to guess why
why why why why why why why
none of it makes any sense except for
when you say you are very happy
that makes me quite satisfied to know
that you understand me and i know you
stop telling me what to do and feel
unless you are going to do your part
who do you think you are?
or do you even have a clue about it?
of course you do--you know yourself
as perfectly as any human could
for this i admire you and strive to learn
try asking me something besides
what you think i want from you
because all i will do is ask the same
that has always been our dance
i never question or succumb to rules
we are free within this beautiful space
the ache comes from your curiosity
and also from your inability to decide
do not hurt yourself any longer
because i feel every nuance of pain
that you suffer, as you feel mine
lean back, it is alright with me
i can carry the weight of your loneliness
and enjoy the moment with you
in gracious giving and perfect knowing
but at the human level we fall down
both as powerful and intense as ever
there is much you still do not know
as i keep it hidden, a treasure to find
when you are ready, eager and open
stop resisting long enough to find it
when someone asks me to be there
i shall never fail to be, faithfully
even after death

yours in joy

  • beautiful. the words flow very well.
There have been shows where maybe the whole first half of the show my eyes have been closed. and then you'll look out in the crowd and there'll be somebody totally lost in their head, in exactly the same place you're in. That, to me, is the essence of music
