Left Without Saying Goodbye

Years past don't get stuck in time
I miss you baby, wish you were mine
but you left me here
left me here without a word of goodbye

Darling you left without saying goodbye
you left without saying goodbye
Oh darlin' please tell me why

You said you would call
but i guess i knew nothing at all
did you forget, or not even care
you left me here with a face full of blank stare

Darling you left without saying goodbye
you left without saying goodbye
Oh darlin' please tell me why

I know i'll see you this winter
but how often?
I'm gonna miss your face light up every day
but that boy you have on your arm
i know he cares for you, no argument there

but baby, how good is he when it comes to lovin'?
I need your warmth when I'm cold
Darling you left without saying goodbye
you left without saying goodbye
Oh darlin' please tell me why
there'll be time for laughin'
there's no time to cry
soon i will be leavin'
look me in the eye
no matter what's in front of me
it's your face that i'll see

Awww I feel the heartache in that poem. :( Kind of reminds me of what my first ex did to me. :/

I love it how you put it all out there, that you want that person, but they are with another. I like it how it just hangs at the end of it too. :)

  • This is so full of longing and feeling and it reads as if it could be a song. Good job! :)

    Beautiful, reminded me of "Porch".....

what the fuck is this world running to
    you didn't leave a message
at least i coulda' learned your voice one last time
daily minefield, this could be my time by your...
    would you hit me?
    would you hit me?
all the bills go by, and initiatives are taken up by the middle
there ain't gonna be any middle any more
and the cross i'm bearing home
    ain't indicative of my place
    left the porch
    left the porch
hear my name, take a good look
    this could be the day
hold my hand, walk beside me
    i just need to say...
hear my name, take a good look
    this could be the day
hold my hand, lie beside me i just need to say
i could not take a-just one day
i know when i would not ever touch you...hold you...feel you...in my arms...
    never again...

    grrr.
very well written, by the way, but that hit a sore spot.

there is absolutely no excuse for people to leave without goodbyes or without some explanation.

it makes the person on the other end feel like a miniscule little nothing and its a horrible feeling. the person doing the take off should have some consideration...should show something of the person they were that made them so important to us in the first place.

it is so much easier to handle goodbyes or reasons for goodbyes than "NOTHING"

nothing leaves you with questions and leaves you unable to get closure.

    cruel cruel people out there.
    You ask me to enter
But then You make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
    To what You got
When all You've got is hurt
    ----
    Underneath this smile lies everything
All my hopes and anger, pride and shame

    so true...

and that did play over in my mind quite a few (hundred) times at one point.

Its a cowardly act for sure.

Cowardliness (sp?) can take so many diferrent forms it always amazes me.
I talked with an old friend last night who took the cowards way out
on an issue, and needless to say I was very turned off. :(

    it is a turn off.
its especially bad when they take the cowardly way AND try to turn some kind of blame on you.

sometimes i think i've just had it with people...why bother.
but its not in me to keep to that thought...
    bah. who knows.

Thats funny you said that...after that experience last night
I was a bit disillusioned and thought "people ultimately do
whats best for them, regardless of whats right or kind, etc".
And I briefly considered moving alone to the other side of the
    world.
Then I took it a step further and thought..."What can you do?
You have to love them anyway, just learn to protect yourself."

Anyway, out of ALL my friends and fam. theres about 3 of them
whom I truly admire as people who will stand up to the popular
thought and say "No, I disagree..this isnt right."
    Only 3..isnt that sad!? :/

reading a lot of your posts, lately i think we're living some sort of parallel lives or something, haha.

and yes, people DO do what's ultimately best for them...but shouldn't there be some sort of consideration/respect/conscience that goes along with it...not just "let me fuck them up and leave" sort of thing.

the other side of the world, i guess there would be the same type of people. sometimes i want to find a hole in the ground and just jump into it and never come back up. that won't work either though ;)

  • I wasnt too sure about this one. It uses a bit of a tired theme - sorrow due to the end of a relationship. It's a tried and tested theme so it will always work in a poem or song because everyone experiences loss of some kind. However, I think we should look at other angles when forming a piece about loss. Don't look at how the victim in a relationship, like the one described, feels but look at the person who walked out and how they feel. A poem wondering how they feel would be effective. I would love to see bossman take on a theme, like the one I described, based on their relationship break up. Look at this as constructive criticism, I am not saying this piece was bad I just think that those who publish work on the message board should be constructivly criticised - myself included. If people can point out areas where work can be improved, the author will be better for it.

  • i completely understand what you are saying. i sometimes think that of poems but i guess i never actually do them that way. so i guess im sort of a hypocrite in a way.

Its almost impossible to be objective
when you are the one who has been injured I think.

you dont have to be objective
the tricky thing about what krystaljenna said is to get behind the eyes of the other person and see things subjectively. Not impossible, just harder to imagine when you're the hurt one. Might even help you recover :)
