i think a lot of times
in the search to be loved
and accepted for ourselves
we take things written or said
to our own hearts
we take things that happen
to our own lives
we take things we feel
to our own souls
something is niggling
at our sensibilities
telling us it must be true
else why the intense response
you want to see those words
the ones that say you are good
the ones that say you are loved
and even the ones
that say you can do anything
because in the end
it is what everybody wants
and needs
some unconditional love
but you don't want to believe
and you don't want to change
because it is not real
there is no one in your arms
no lips on yours
no sexual exchange
yet there is always hope
for that for which we pray
and dream about daily
perhaps the object
of one's desire
seems distant and unknown
but one day
they will appear
but only when one thing occurs
as soon as one is whole
as soon as the longing
evolves into precious self-worth
and someone feels free
to choose you above all
you'll know
it was worth the wait
it is why the poet exists
and the songwriter plays
why the artist cries
and the clown laughs
in this absurd and hysterical life
you are all that matters
you are what you have
when it's time to share
my darlings, you shall
without shame or doubt
natural and beautiful

so the words you choose
to believe and absorb
only serve to build the love
that always exists inside
part of the big love
we all are a part of
do something with it
give it, live it, know it

i will always love you.

    Thank you Felicity
It was a dream, not a nightmare. A beautiful dream I could never imagined in a thousand nods. I saw this girl next to me, she wasn't beautiful until she smiled. And I felt that smile come at me in heat waves following. Soaking through my body and out my finger tips in shafts of color. And I knew somewhere in the world, somewhere, that there was love for me.

i'm so glad you share these with us, i think i like this one as much as i liked your 100 year old poem.
  • This was beautiful. The message, the flow, the words you've chosen.

Long but not rambling... it meant something to me.

I've read this a few times and I've been wondering about it.

You seem to be saying that people don't change unless they are compelled to by having a live person to push them to it? I'm not sure I agree (because I think people can change regardless of their situation) but I still like the poem. :)
